Ozarks art exhibit slated in West Plains
A member invitation is presented by the West Plains Artist Guild for area artists to join in an exhibit at the Harlin Museum at 405 Worcester Ave., West Plains. This is not a competition, but a gallery showing.
All paintings must be framed with wire to hang. Any medium and any subject that may be presented to children may be shown.
All works must be dry. Watercolor, water-media, pastel, ink and pencil must be under glass. All works 3 feet by 5 feet will be accepted. No sawtooth hangers are allowed All work must be original -- no copies.
Entry date is April 30 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Entry forms will be available at the museum on the day of entry. Works may be marked for sale or NFS.
The Art of the Ozarks exhibit opens May 3 during regular museum hours noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
Each artist may show up to five paintings. The entry fee is $10 per artist, which also gives the artist a one-year membership to the West Plains Artist Guild.
WRAG meets the third Tuesday of each month unless announced otherwise. During warm weather WPAG meets at the Harlin Museum and during cold weather it meets at Ryan's on Preacher Roe Blvd. Updates on activities are sent by e-mail.
The one-year membership in WPAG includes participation in various educational activities, demonstrations in various mediums of paintings or drawing, updates on workshops and art shows presented in the area.
WPAG holds the annual exhibit and competition at Heart of the Ozarks Fair each July with categories in many mediums in sub-divisions for children and adults. Following the fair, members carpool to the Springfield Art Museum and Watercolor USA, Michael's Hobby Lobby, National Art Shop, and Bass Pro Shop the last week of July. Painting out is held during fall foliage, and includes a picnic or potluck. In November there is a Thanksgiving dinner, and in December there is a Christmas dinner. The party includes gift exchange. Members will exhibit one painting per artist in the dining room at Ryan's.
The exhibit ends May 21 with an artist reception at 2 p.m. and paintings released at 3 p.m.
