A Hardy woman was found dead in her home by a neighbor after several unsuccessful attempts were made to contact her by telephone April 6.
Law enforcement officers responded to a call from a neighbor who discovered 72-year-old Hazel Ann Martin lying on the floor of her home.
Officers from the Sharp County Sheriff's Office, Ash Flat Police Department and Hardy Police Department arrived on the scene and secured the area until investigators David Huffmaster of the Sharp County Sheriff's Office and Mack Thompson of the Arkansas State Police arrived on the scene.
Sharp Deputy Stan Haney said it appeared Martin, who lived alone, had been dead for several days.
Martin's body has been sent to the Arkansas State Medical Examiners Office in Little Rock for an autopsy, Sheriff T.J. "Sonny" Powell said.
