Carl E. Coe, 49, son of the late Ruby Hobbs, was born March 5, 1953, in Wichita Falls, Texas, and died March 22, 2002, at West Plains. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving in the Vietnam War. He was a laborer and worked in maintenance.Survivors include his wife, Clarice Ann of the home in Thayer; one daughter, Amanda Coe of Thayer; one son, Mark Welty and wife, Terri of West Plains; six sisters, Venita Butler and husband, Keith of Thayer, and his brother, Curt Butler, Charlene Carmargo of Washing- ton; Tonia Hobook of Scott City, Mo., Tonqua Shore of Piggott, Opal L. Hobbs of Sher-idan, Wy.., and Virginia Worley of West Plains; eight brothers, Joe Coe, of West Plains, Albert Hobbs of Salem, Ark., Harold Hobbs of Penwood, Mont., James Hobbs, David Hobbs, and Gary Hobbs of West Plains, John Hobbs of Willow Springs, and Robert Lee "Butch" Hobbs of San Diego, Calif.; numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother; two sons, Shawn and Michael Coe; two brothers, and his step-father.Services were Tuesday, march 26, 2002, at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer with Rev. Frank Mulford officiating. Burial was in the Wayside Cemetery at Koshkonong, with arrangements under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. of Thayer.Military honors were presented by the Veterans Honor Guard of West Plains.Pallbearers were Noble Wilbanks, David Madden, Steve Bales, Noval Wilbanks, Max Ficken, and David Keley.Honorary pallbearers were Edward Davis, Jr. and Ed Lancaster.
