Joseph T. Miner, of Florissant, Mo., died March 6, 2005. He was the beloved husband of 56 years of Nellie E. Miner (nee Pingleton) dear father of Donald D. Miner (Michelle), Brenda J. Hodges (nee Miner) (Paul Gauseweg), and the late Joseph Bruce Miner; dear grandfather of Justin, Jacob and Lisa Hodges, and Elizabeth Miner, and two great-grandchildren. He also leaves to mourn his sister, Eunice Miner Newton.

He was born in Wilderness, Mo. on Jan. 23, 1929, the son of the late Wesley M. and Mary E. Miner (nee Simpson).

He was preceded in death by two brothers -- Hubert W. and Lawrence L. (Buck) Miner; and a sister, Jewel Miner. He died peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was a graduate of Alton High School, class of 1946.

He was a past master of Ferguson Masonic Lodge 542, AF & AM, now known as Masters Lodge, a past District Deputy Grand Lecturer and a member of Friday Friers. He was also a Scottish Rite 32 degree KCCH past master of Kadosh, and a member of Rob Morris Chapter # 328 OES. He was the current treasurer of his lodge, and held numerous offices during his years of service to the Masonic Lodge.

He was employed as a machinist at McDonnell Douglas, retiring after 40 years, and was a member of Machinists Local 837B.

During his retirement, he enjoyed golf, spending time with friends and family, and served as a volunteer tax preparer for AARP.

He was a member of the Christian faith and lived his life as an exemplary example of his faith.
