The Arkansas Sheriffs' Youth Ranches will hold its first Labor Day Archery Tournament on Sept. 5. Children from ranch campuses around the state will come to the White River campus near Batesville for the tournament. The tourney is being made possible in part by a donation from Buckmasters.
Clint Williams, recreation director, wanted to start this program. "I grew up hunting, and there are both personal and practical skills to be learned from doing it," said Williams. "The tournament is the end result of a program designed to teach patience and discipline. The children and adults involved will have some fun in the process."
Buckmaster donated three Matthews Genesis bows to use in the program leading up to the tournament.

Ranch officials hope to make the archery tournament an annual event.
