The Izard County Sheriff's Department conducted a series of drug raids throughout the county last week.
Richard "Keith" Varnado, 49, of Horseshoe Bend was charged Aug. 8 with three counts of delivery of a controlled substance, marijuana, a class C felony.
Izard County Sheriff Tate Lawrence said an informant told investigators that Varnado was selling marijuana from his Horseshoe Bend home.
On two occasions the informant working for the Izard County Sheriff's Department bought $100 worth of marijuana from Varnado, according to the arrest affidavit.
"The undercover drug buys produced good results," Lawrence said. "And that aspect of enforcing the department's zero tolerance program is being expanded with other methods of confronting illegal drug activity in the county."
Several drug dealers who have been arrested in recent weeks are connected to Varnado, Lawrence said.
Varnado posted a $20,000 bond Aug. 10 and is slated to appear in Izard County Circuit Court later this month.
Additional arrest warrants will be issued in connection with this case, Lawrence said.
A Melbourne man was charged Aug. 10 with delivery of a controlled substance, a class C felony; and three misdemeanor counts of delivery of a controlled substance.
Kevin Jay Cox, 44, is being held in the Izard County Detention Center in lieu of a $20,000 bond.
Lawrence said Cox's charges could be enhanced because they occurred within 1,000 feet of a school.
Daniel Childers, 36, of Batesville was charged Aug. 13 with felony possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Childers is being held in the Izard County Detention Center in lieu of a $5,000 bond.
He is slated to appear in Izard County Circuit Court this month.
Johnnie Ray Sollock, 32, of Mount Pleasant has been charged with felony possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Sollock remains in the Izard County Detention Center in lieu of a $5,000 bond.
