Salem Chamber of Commerce met Feb. 27 with guest speaker Susan Collins of Make A Wish Foundation in Little Rock, who spoke about a "wish child" in Salem whose prognosis is grim.
Collins said there is a need for the public to donate money and time to the organization for children faced with illness, according to Hans Oliver, president of the chamber.
The foundation grants wishes of children with life threatening illnesses to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy, Oliver said.
Oliver said plans are proceeding for the open house scheduled April 24 for the new chamber building which is being revamped for a tourist information center. Any businesses with brochures are encouraged to get with a board member from the chamber so their information can be displayed at the center.
The radio auction is the week of March 25 at the Orange Room in North Arkansas Electric Cooperative. Oliver said volunteers are needed to man the phone lines. Auctioneers, camera operators and donations are also needed.
