KOSHKONONG -- There's a familiar flag flying at local post offices, with a twist. The postal eagle is in yellow because employees in the Kansas City based Mid-America District recently earned the United States Postal Service's Order of the Yellow Jersey (OYJ) award. The award reflects the honor bestowed upon three time Tour de France winner, Lance Armstrong, the leader of the Postal Services Pro Cycling Team, and is based on an independent customer satisfaction survey done by the Gallup Organization.
The Postal Services Office of the Consumer Advocate based the quarterly OYJ award on overall performance plus three key elements of Gallup's survey state, accuracy of delivery, consistency of delivery and professionalism in serving customers at the retail service window.
"With three consecutive Tour de France victories, Lance Armstrong represents the ultimate competitor," said Koshkonong Postmaster Donna Steed, "I'm proud that our employees are being recognized for achieving superior levels of customer satisfaction," she added.
The flag is hung inside the Koshkonong Post Office for all to see, and can also be seen at several other area post offices.
