Alford Truman Lowe, 89, formerly of the Thayer, Mo., and Hardy, Ark. area was born Feb. 18, 1916, in Ash Flat, Ark., the son of the late Thomas Lowe and Mae Battles Lowe.
He died June 3, 2005, in Springfield, Mo.
He was united in marriage March 16, 1940, in Williford, Ark. to Bessie Cooper.
He was employed by Frisco Railroad for 39 years.
He was a good-hearted person, loved by all and never knew a stranger.
He enjoyed fishing and loved being with his family and friends.
He was a member of First United Pentecostal Church in West Memphis, Ark. for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Bessie of the home in Springfield, Mo.; four daughters -- Joyce Deeds and husband, Robert, of Springfield, Mo., Alice Maxwell of Farmington, Minn., Linda Shannon of Harlem, Ga., and Sharon Gosa and husband, Preston, of Marion, Ark.; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Charles Truman Lowe; three brothers -- Lee, Shelby and John Lowe; one sister, Mary Gann; and two sons-in-law -- Preston Maxwell and Bobby Shannon.
The funeral service was held on June 8 at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Mo., with the Rev. Don Tabor officiating.
Burial was in Hardy Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Carter Funeral Home Inc. of Thayer.
