While most of the area got rain showers the afternoon of June 11, West Plains Motor Speedway didn't, but race fans and drivers from surrounding areas made the treck to West Plains since it was one of the very few dirt tracks that did not suffer from the dry weather and have to cancel events for the weekend.
In the IMCA Modified feature event Shawn Walsh of Ash Flat took the honors and, very appropriately, one of his sponsors, Medlock Truss of Ash Flat was the evening's event sponsor. Rounding out the top five were Billy Romans and Jason Hughes, both of West Plains, along with Brian Judd of Caulfield, Mo., and Bryan McKee of Mountain Home.
Stan Ellison won the Super Stock feature with a number of new cars on hand to test the track before the upcoming Firecracker Weekend, slated for June 30-July 2. Taking second was Tony Anglin of Walnut Ridge, with Chris Moser of Melbourne, Cody Kelly of Birch Tree, Mo., and Claudie Cook of Jonesboro rounding out the top five.
West Plain's Hobby Stocker Bobby Bryant won the feature event at the Medlock Truss sponsored event, with Dexter Frost, another West Plains driver, taking second. Rounding out the top finishers were Tyson Troutman of Houston, Mo., Chuck Russell of West Plains, Bobby Ratterree of Mountain Grove, Mo., and Greg Lute of Hardy, driving another Medlock Truss-sponsored car.
Jason Johnson of Hardy won the Cruiser feature event with Scott North of Willow Springs, Mo., taking second followed by Shane Hitt of Birch Tree, Mo.
Mike Harrill of West Plains won the FWD/Mini-Stock feature followed by Kyle Katcher of Bull Shoals, Brad Sanders of West Plains, David Lute of Ash Flat, who is also sponsored by the event sponsor, Medlock Truss, Daniel Cook of Success, Mo., Clift Strait of Ash Flat, and Chuck Fers of Fair Grove, Mo.
