Hazel Mae Bowers Laman, devoted wife and loving mother, died Oct. 24, 2003 at her home in Parkway Village. She was 81 years old.
Mrs. Laman was born May 6, 1922 in Calamine, Arkansas to the late Oscar and Mary Jane Bowers. She was a graduate of nearby Cave City High School. It was there that she met her loving husband of 59 years, the late J. T. Laman.
She was a longtime member of the Markham Street Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher and active member of the Women‚s Missionary Union. She and her husband J.T. were also founding members of the Freeman Heights Baptist Church in Berryville, Arkansas, where they lived for eight years.
She is reunited with her beloved husband J. T., as well as two brothers -- Estel Bowers and Gordon Bowers and two sisters -- Caruth Hutsell and Myrtle Asbury. She is survived by her brother Glen Bowers and her sister Marie Hubbard.
While her work in the church and elsewhere brought her a sense of purpose and accomplishment, it was her family of J.T. and four children that were her greatest source of pride and deepest joy. Their children include -- Lynda Laman Colvert and her husband Lundy; Kathy Laman Besancon and her husband Hal; Judy Laman Fuller and her husband Dale; and John Thomas Laman II and his wife Virginia. Hazel was also blessed with seven grandchildren -- Robert Lane Blaylock, Jennifer Lynn Wilson and her husband David; Elizabeth Ann Paul and her husband Gunnar; Jon David Fuller and his wife Kristi;. Bryan Dale Fuller and his wife Heather; Robert Laman Fuller and his wife Heather and John Thomas Laman III. Her memory will also be cherished by eight great-grandchildren; Amber and Stone Paul, Tanner and Hunter Wilson, Jon David II, Ellie and Sadie Fuller and Molly-Kate Fuller.
Funeral service were Oct. 26 at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed at Forest Hills Memorial Park.
