MAMMOTH SPRING -- A three-vehicle accident just south of Mammoth Spring May 23 left several area residents with injuries, including a Mammoth Spring mother and her daughter.
According to an accident report from the Mammoth Spring Police Department, the accident occurred at 9:43 a.m. on Highway 63 and Music Hall Road.
Laura Ann Collins, 35, of Mammoth Spring, driving a 1997 Plymouth, was stopped in the highway waiting to make a left turn into Music Hall Road when she was hit in the rear by a 1992 GMC van driven by Chris Jewell, 37, of Thayer.
The report said the Collins car then spun into the northbound lane and was hit in the side by a 1975 GMC truck driven by Albert Bell, 82, of Cherokee Village, Ark.
A passenger in the Collins vehicle, Amanda Collins, 8, and a passenger in the Bell vehicle, June Bell, 75, were both injured as well as the drivers of both vehicles.
Responding to the accident was the Mammoth Spring Police Department, the Mammoth Spring First Responders and Fire Department, and officers from the Fulton County Sheriff's Office.
The Bells suffered moderate injuries in the accident and were taken to OMC in West Plains, as were Laura Collins and her daughter, Amanda.
Both Collinses were later Air Lifted to a Springfield Hospital to be treated for the injuries they suffered in the accident.
