Health department offers FEMA drink

Thursday, June 13, 2002

OREGON COUNTY -- Oregon County residents who qualify can now receive a vitamin enriched nutritional energy drink, Boost Plus, at the Oregon County Health Department free of charge.

According to health department director Shelia Russell, a questionnaire must be filled out to show nutritional need for Boost Plus. She said the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has provided the county with an allotment of Boost Plus. The Oregon County Health Department was the agency chosen in the county to distribute the drink.

Russell said "The drink will be distributed on a first come, first served basis and there is only a limited amount of the drink available." She said there is also a limited amount of the Choice brand supplement that is made for diabetics and this will also be distributed on a first come, first served basis.

Distribution will be at Alton and Thayer Health Department offices. The Alton office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the Thayer office is open Tuesday and Wednesdays only, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

For answers to questions regrading Boost Plus call the Alton office at 417-778-7450 or the Thayer office at 417-264-3114.
