Marilyn Jones, 67, of rural Dearborn, Mo., died Tuesday, June 4, 2002, at her home. She was born Aug. 24, 1934, the only child of Dewey and Edna (Hinton) Miller in Iantha, Mo. She grew up and attended school in Liberal, Mo. where she graduated as the valedictorian of her class. She later attended business school. She was married to Paul Vernon Jones, who was originally from the Salem area, on Nov. 7, 1954. After their marriage they lived near Dearborn, where they made their home.She was a bookkeeper for Witte Engine Works, and was a homemaker and also a rural mail carrier for the U. S. Post Office for many years. She retired in 1992. She was a lifelong member of the former Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints now, Community of Christ in Trimble, Mo., and she and her husband also attended the First Baptist Church or Dearborn.Survivors include her husband, Paul Vernon, of the home; one son, Mike Jones and wife, LeAnn; and one grandson Del Jones all of rural Dearborn; and other relatives and many friends.She was preceded in death by her parents.Services were Saturday, June 8, 2002, at the Community Church of Christ in Trimble, Mo. Burial was in the Dearborn Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Hixson-Klein Funeral Homes of Gower, Mo.Memorial donations can be made to the Community of Christ Building fund.
