William "Ray" Rawling, 73, of Ash Flat, Ark., formerly of Oscoda, Mich., died Monday, June 3, 2002, in Greenbush, Mich. He was born Jan. 27, 1929 in Detroit, Mich. He married the former Beverly J. Campbell July 16, 1948, in Royal Oak, Mich. He worked for Michigan Bell for 33 years and retired in 1979. Since retiring, he spent much of his time working as a handyman. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cherokee Village in Arkansas and a former member of the Oscoda Baptist Church.Survivors include his wife Beverly; six children, Daniel Rawling of Portsmouth, N.H., Colleen (Leigh) Lehmann of Nashville, Tenn., William (Nanette) Rawling Jr., of Flippin, Ark., Beth (Michael Pelham, Branson, Mo., Gay (John) McNeley of Brighton, Tenn., and Dawn (Dan) Hayes of Oscoda,Mich.; two sisters, Evelyn Ward and Carolyn Bronson of Greenbush, Mich.; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Marion Rawling.Services were Thursday, June 6, 2002, at 11 a.m. at the Buresh Chapel with Pastor Ken Marsh officiating.
