Elmer Lloyd and Nancy Fae Brown Crouch of Glencoe invite their family and friends to celebrate their 60th anniversary March 29.The couple met when Elmer was in the Merchant Marines. "It was during the space between voyages that I fell in love with a blonde girl who had a Southern accent, and I asked her to marry me," he said.She added, "Em was tall, red-headed and handsome with a little gray around the temples."They eloped and were married by a minister in Reno, Nev., spent a short honeymoon in Lake Tahoe, and two weeks later Elmer sailed on his next voyage. The Crouches have filled 60 years with wonderful memories of their three children, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.They have traveled extensively across the United States as well as enjoyed over a dozen trips to Hawaii and cruised to the Caribbean, Alaska, Samoa and Tahiti.Friends can visit them at the Carriage Room at Hillhigh Hotel & Spa in Horseshoe Bend from 2 to 2:30 p.m. March 24.
