Merritt C. Sipler, age 79, of Cherokee Village, died May 24, 2005, at White River Medical Center in Batesville, Ark.
He was born June 5, 1925, in White Haven, Pa., the son of Frederick Sipler and Florence Dressler Sipler.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during World War II on the USS Alabama. Sipler worked as a printer and then for the state of Pennsylvania. He moved with his wife, Betty Ruth, to Cherokee Village seven years ago from White Haven. He was of the Lutheran faith and was a member of the American Legion and the VFW.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Ruth Sipler of the home; one son and daughter-in-law -- Marlin and Maria Sipler of West Plains, Mo.; four grandchildren -- Raymond Sipler, Darren Sipler, Keith Sipler and Marissa Sipler; and one great-granddaughter, Allie Nicole Sipler.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
There are no services planned at this time. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Pennsylania. Arrange-ments are under the direction of Tri-County's Cherokee Chapel of Highland, Ark.
