Modine Singleton, age 80, of Salem, Ark., daughter of the late Floyd Tanner and Eva Hickman Tanner, was born Sept. 24, 1924, in Baxter County, Ark. She died May 24, 2005, at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, Ark.
She was united in marriage to Guy Singleton on Jan. 19, 1948, at Mammoth Spring, Ark.
She was employed by Fulton County Nursing Home for 20 years as a nurses aide. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Guy, of the family home in Salem; her children -- Phyllis (John) Goodman of Gainesville, Mo., Kathy (Kenneth) Rogers of Lake Jackson, Texas, Jerry (Linda) Singleton of Spiro, Okla., Kay (Stanley) Yelvington of Huntsville and Debbie (Richard) Baker of Downing, Mo.; a brother, Marcell Tanner of Oxford; sisters -- Nadine Cochran of Mountain Home and Novellene Wray of Salem; grandchildren -- Melissa (Brent) Weaver, John Wesley (Amanda) Goodman, Julie Rogers, Christopher H. Rogers, Kristal (Greg) Murray, Jeremy Singleton, Stacy (James) Schneider, Freddy (Wendy) Adler, Kayla and Cindy Adler and Justin Yelvington; 14 great-grandchildren and many other relatives.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Paula Singleton, a brother, Melvin Tanner, and her father and mother.
The funeral service was held May 27 at Salem First Baptist Church with arrangements under the direction of Cox-Blevins Funeral Home of Salem, Ark.
