Albert C. "A.C." Green Jr., 83, of Thayer, Mo., died March 13, 2005, in Thayer.
Born Feb. 2, 1922, in Thayer, he was the son of the late Albert C. Green Sr. and Ola Jane Ryan Green.
He was united in marriage July 19, 1946, in Reno, Nev., to Davene Hayes.
He was employed by Frisco Burlington Northern Railroad for 35 years. He was a gifted and talented carpenter and stone mason and enjoyed building homes.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World war II. He was a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne Division and was a demolition expert. He was a sharing, loving and caring husband, father and grandfather, and will be sadly missed by his family and friends. He was of the Pentecostal faith.
Survivors include his wife, Davene of the home in Thayer; two sons -- David Green of Magnolia Springs, Ala., and Richard Green and wife, LaWanda, of Willow Springs, Mo.; a daughter, Ola Lynn Wheeler of West Plains, Mo.; eight grandchildren -- Kenneth Green and wife, Caprice, of Grand Island, Neb., Jonathan Green and wife, Stephanie, of Spring, Texas, La Jena Adams and husband, David, of Thayer, Heather Wallace and husband Blake, of Magnolia, Springs, Ala., Michael Green and wife, Summer, of Willow Springs, Nakoma Thompson and husband, Torey, of West Plains, Melody Johnson of West Plains, and Nathan Wheeler of Thayer; six great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; a sister, Louise Williams of Granite City, Ill., and a daughter-in-law, Joi Green of Alabama.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Grace Lou Ella Green; and three grandchildren.
The funeral was March 15 at Carter Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Barnett and the Rev. Don Tabor officiating. Burial was in the Thayer Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Carter Funeral Home Inc. of Thayer, Mo.
