This month, the Thayer Women's Bowling Association awarded four scholarships of $350 each to the following area students:

* Sadie Gardner, a Thayer High School graduate, is a senior at SMSU in Springfield. She is the granddaughter of bowlers Bill and Betty Hendrix as well as Shirley Gardner. Sadie is majoring in environmental and natural resources and minoring in geology.

* Tiffany Wiggs, an Alton High school graduate, is the daughter of bowler Maurice Wiggs, the niece of Stacy Wiggs and the granddaughter of Edwin and Nella Wiggs. Tiffany will be a sophomore at SMSU in West Plains this fall. Tiffany is planning a career in accounting.

* Lacy Brown, a West Plains High School graduate, is a sophomore at SMSU in West Plains. She is the daughter of Keith and Sonda Brown who bowl in the Monday League at Thayer Lanes. Lacy plans to enter the University of Missouri in the fall where she will pursue a career in the field of business management.

* Jennifer Huckabee, an Alton High School graduate, is finishing her freshman year at SMSU in West Plains. Jennifer is the daughter of Rosa Hudson, the granddaughter of Dorothy Manker and the mother of YABA bowlers Samantha and Joshua Huckabee. Jennifer plans to complete a degree in business and accounting.

The Thayer WBA began a scholarship fund in 1995. Last year five students received $50 each. Two were still eligible to apply again -- Sadie Gardner and Tiffany Wiggs. Congratulations to each student from the members of Thayer Women's Bowling Association.
