OREGON COUNTY -- Local law enforcement officers continue to search for an elderly Shannon County man who was last seen in Oregon County.
According to Oregon County Chief Deputy Eric King, Sanford S. Hodges, 89, of Birch Tree was last seen July 31 at Argo's Trading Post just north of Alton. Officers said Hodges goes by the nickname "Doc."
When last seen, Hodges was wearing rust colored Dockers, a light tan button-up shirt, tan tennis shoes and a red ball cap that says "Windmill Truck Stop, Rapid City, South Dakota."
Hodges is 5-foot, 11-inches tall and weighs between 150 and 155 pounds. He was last seen driving a white 1987 Ford F-250 four-wheel drive truck that has no tailgate. The license plate number is 046EN2 and the license plate on the truck expired Aug. 7.
A family member said the route Hodges traveled from Alton to his home is Highway 19 to northern Oregon County where he would turn west and northwest on Hightower Road and travel into southern Shannon County onto County Road 630 to the south central portion of Shannon County.
King said Forest Service roads in the area have been searched.
He said an employee at Argo's Trading Post reported Hodges had bought gas and talked about a recent trip he had made to South Dakota.
King added that anyone who saw Hodges the day he disappeared or has any other information regarding Hodges can call the Oregon County Sheriff's Office at 417-778- 6611 or the Shannon County Sheriff's Office at 573-226-3615.
