Thayer cleanup slated

Thursday, March 17, 2005

THAYER -- Thayer City Council voted at the Feb. 8 meeting to set cleanup week in the city for March 21-25. Trash will be picked up in the city on regular trash days.

IESI will place roll off containers beside the city police station all week for large items such as furniture. Used motor oil can be taken to the Oregon County Recycling Center. All trash must be bagged, boxed or canned for pick up.

The city council and Thayer firefighters ask city residents and property owners in the city limits as well as civic clubs, schools, churches and organizations to take an active part in the spring cleanup of the city.

Heavy steel, rocks, concrete, tires, fluids, paint, oil and car batteries will not be picked up. Yard waste including lawn clippings will not be picked up. White goods like refrigerators may be set by the curb.

Owners should call City Hall at 264-3921 to have these items picked up.

The council said they remind citizens that weeds and grass on residential and vacant lots should be kept trimmed through the spring and summer growing seasons.

IESI trucks will pick up refuse on the south side of the city March 21 and on the north side of the city March 22.
