Richard L. Hodge, 53, of Viola, son of John Hodge and Joyce White Hodge Chasse, was born May 8, 1951, in Winchester, Mass. He died Dec. 2, 2004, at his home in rural Viola.
He was united in marriage to Bonnie Macaulay May 22, 1971, in Tewksbury, Mass.
He served his country in the United States Marine Corp. He was a volunteer fireman and first responder for the Viola and Byron Fire Departments. He was a Christian.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie, of the family home; a son, David Alan Hodge of Little Rock; his father, John Hodge of Lowell, Oregon; his mother, Joyce Chasse of New Hampshire; a brother, Joseph Chasse of Mass.; and sisters -- Beth Graham and Bonnie Chasse, both of New Hampshire.
He was preceeded in death by his grandparents.
A memorial service was held Dec. 12 at the Hodge residence in Viola. Arrangements were under the direction of Cox-Blevins Funeral Home of Salem.
