Alverta Katherine Simington of Fullerton, Calif., formerly of Salem, Ark., was born March 16, 1921, in Clovis, N.M., daughter of the late Benjamin M. and Myrtle M. McMormick Christian. She died July 3, 2005, at Fullerton, Calif., at the age of 84 years.
She was united in marriage to Alden Dudley Simington Sr. on Aug. 18, 1936, at Clovis, N.M., and to this union two sons were born.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and homemaker.
Survivors include a son, Jack L. Simington and wife, Jeanette of Kennewick, Wash.; three grandchildren -- Melissa Loman and husband, Rob, of Pasco, Wash., Kristen Navejas and husband, Fred of Pasco, Wash., and Aimee Beth Pearce and husband, Mike, of Pasco, Wash.; two great-grandchildren -- Kaylee Dai Navejas and Jace Navejas; a sister, Betty Jo Byars of Fullerton, Calif.; a niece, Lisa Arellano and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and a son, A.S. Simington Jr.
The funeral service was held July 14 at the Barker Funeral Home Chapel in Salem, with Bro. William Hughart and Connie Buss officiating. Inter-ment was in Salem Cemetery with arrangements by the Barker Funeral Home of Salem.
Pallbearers were Albert Roark, Doug Buss, Vince Johnson, Don Crawford, J.L. Hardin, and Bill Worsham.
