James Bryce Pruitt, 50, of Viola, died May 17, 2004, at Viola.
Born Sept. 17, 1953, in Springfield, Mo., he was the son of Troy James Pruitt and Edyth Inez Crotts Pruitt Steele.
He married Judy Gail Eppes July 14, 1998, in Salem. He spent his working years as a husband, step-father, step-grandfather and worked in quality control for the state of Arkansas.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Pruitt of Viola; three stepdaughters -- Michelle Jankowski of Plainwall, Mich., Jennifer Rodgers of Hackett, Ark., and Desiree Wilson of Panama City, Fla.; a stepfather, Jesse Steele of Viola; a brother and sister-in-law -- Billy and Lisa Steele of Fifty Six; two nieces -- Kayla and Tailer Steele; a nephew, Cody Steele; an uncle, Lynn Crotts of Nixa, Mo.; and several stepgrandchildren
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service was May 20 at Flora Cemetery in Viola with Ray Taffer officiating. Inturnment was in Flora Cemetery under the direction of Barker Funeral Home of Salem.
