David E. "Dick" Harris, 82, of Highland, died Dec. 25, 2004. He was born Nov. 21, 1922, in Salem, Ark., to Guy O. and Mae Morrow Harris.
Upon graduation from Salem High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served as a radarman on the USS Prince William during World War II.
He married Anita Carroll Collins on Aug. 8, 1946, and they are the parents of three children: Susan (Harold) Craw-ford, David (Georgia) Harris, and Melissa Ann Harris.
He was employed by the U.S. Engineers and worked on Norfork and Bull Shoals Dams. He then worked for Cooper Communities until retirement.
He was a Mason, a Shriner and a member of the Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife and children, survivors include a sister, Jimmie (Keith) Glenn; a brother, Guy E. (Jean) Harris; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three nieces and anephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, JoAnn.
The funeral was Dec. 28 at Salem United Methodist Church with burial in the Salem Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Cox-Blevins Funeral Home of Salem.
