Flava E. Carter, 94, of Evening Shade died Jan. 16, 2005, at Sharp Nursing Home in Sidney. She was born March 20, 1910, at Evening Shade, Ark. to Clarence and Amanda Elizabeth Taylor Haley. She was a homemaker and a member of Evening Shade United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clyde Carter; an infant son, Delbert Carter; five brothers -- Homer Haley, Lonnie Haley, Bill Haley, Boyce Haley and Clayton Haley; and three sisters -- Artie Berry, Pheabe Carter and Eunice Lawhorn.
Survivors include two sons -- Raybourne Carter of Batesville, and Russell Carter of Evening Shade; a daughter, Vernita Norris of Poughkeepsie; a brother, Earl C. Haley of Evening Shade; a sister, Hazel Miller of Zion; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral was Jan. 20, at Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City with the Rev. Larry Morris officiating. Burial followed in Bear Creek Cemetery located west of Evening Shade with arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
Pallbearers were Tony Stuntz, Joe Carter, Ray Carter, Lonnie Haley, Monty Haley and Johnny Parker.
