An Ash Flat man was killed Sept. 11 when the car he was driving collided head-on with another vehicle on Highway 167 south of Cave City. His wife later died from injuries sustained in the crash
Zedric G. Stanford, 62, of Ash Flat died around 3 p.m. when the 1986 Oldsmobile Cutlass he was driving crossed the center line and struck a 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche driven by Edward L. Hoover, 63, of Shreveport, La.
Vicki L. Stanford, 51, a passenger in Stanford's vehicle, was transported to White River Medical Center in Batesville. She was later transferred by helicopter to the Elvis Presley Trauma Center in Memphis where she died Sept. 14.
Hoover was transported to White River Medical Center in Batesville where he was treated and released.
Hoover was wearing a seatbelt. It was unknown if either of the Stanfords were wearing seatbelts.
Arkansas State Trooper Jeremy Hughes reported that the weather was clear and the roads were dry at the time of the accident.
