Rodney Wallace Andrews, 76, son of the late Earl Andrews and Neva Griffin Andrews was born Dec. 6, 1925, in Alton, Mo., and died Aug. 5, 2002, in Thayer, Mo.He was employed by Terminal Railroad Union Station in Saint Louis, Mo., for 27 years, working as a mail handler, yardmaster and dispatcher.He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II. He was a teletype operator and served with the 3196th Signal Service Company and other organizations in Italy for eighteen months.Survivors are his wife, Opal of the home in Alton; one daughter, Linda Alley Andrews of Alton, Mo.; two grandchildren, Tina Massengill of Aurora, Mo., and Ken Alley of Monett, Mo.; three great-grandchildren, Tony, Shawn and Kyle; one great-great-grandchild, David; and two nephews, Wayne Andrews Jr. and wife, and children, and Terry Andrews and wife and children.He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Leatrice; one brother, Wayne Andrews; and one nephew, Mike Andrews.Services were Aug. 7, at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer with Bro. Bill Bales officiating. Burial was in the Shiloh Cemetery at Alton, with arrangements by Carter Funeral Home, Inc. of Thayer.Pallbearers were Kenneth Alley, Tony Mapes, Shannon Andrews, Wayne Andrews, Jr., Terry Massengill, and Zack Blanton.
