THAYER -- The Thayer FFA Chapter was recently awarded a Building Our American Communities (BOAC) Grant from the Missouri Department of Agriculture, Market Development Division.
The $500 grant was presented to the Thayer FFA Chapter by Rick Huffman on behalf of the Missouri Department of Agriculture for the work the chapter did at the Heart of the Ozarks Fairgrounds in West Plains.
The project consisted of a children's barnyard. The chapter also received a certificate for the successful completion of their project.
The BOAC Grant Program provides aid in the development and advancement of Missouri's rural communities.
The grant received by the Thayer chapter was one of 72 given statewide. A total of $36,000 is provided annually by the department's Market Development Division for the program.
Thirty-six 4-H and 36 FFA BOAC Grants are awarded each year through a competitive process, with each grant not to exceed $500.
All Missouri 4-H clubs and FFA chapters are eligible to participate in the program.
