Herbert R. "Sassy" Wooldridge, 90, of Cave City, Ark., passed away on Aug. 30, 2002, at the Cave City Nursing Home. He was born May 17, 1912, in the state of Texas, son of Milner Clay and Era Lovell Wooldridge. He was a retired maintenance worker for Gencorp Automotive in Batesville; a member of the Curia Creek Masonic Lodge in Cave City; and a member of the Maxville Missionary Baptist Church in Cave City.Survivors include one son, Robert Wooldridge of New York City, N.Y.; two daughters, Gloria Taylor of Cave City, and Jamie McBride of Batesville; two sisters, Jessie Mae Johnson of Texas, and Berlene Erwin of St. Louis, Mo.; six grandchildren, David Cummings, Ginger Kirk, James Robert Cummings, Harold Dewayne Cummings, Lynda Branscum and John Franklin Taylor; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Agnes Kerr Wooldridge; one infant daughter; three brothers, James E. Wooldridge, Thomas O. Wooldridge and L. C. Wooldridge; and three sisters, Ella J. McGinnis, Audrey Fatherie, and Jeffie Wooldridge.Services were Sept. 2, 2002, at the Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City with Bro. Grayden Milligan officiating. Burial was in the Palestine Cemetery located west of Cave City, with arrangements under the direction of the Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.Pallbearers were his grandsons.
