Art, show and sale planned

THAYER -- The Thayer Area Arts Council, in conjunction with the Thayer Alumni Homecoming will hold an art show and sale next month. All forms of two-dimensional and three-dimensional art will be accepted.

A spokesperson for the council said the purpose of this exhibit will be to showcase various media of visual arts produced by artists of the Ozarks. She said a large percentage of this collection will be available for purchase. Many homes, businesses and offices will have the works of art on display.

Artists will need to bring their art work Oct. 16 and 17 to the Oregon County Country Music Theater, located at 5th and Walnut streets in Thayer. The entry fee will be $5 for one piece and $2 for each additional piece, up to 5 works of art. The work will be hung and open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 21 through Oct. 24. Sunday hours will be from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. All two-dimensional work must be original and wired for hanging.

The show will be juried. There will be eight awards of excellence, six honorable mention awards and a Best of Show Award which will include $50 in cash. A People's Choice Award will also be chosen.
