Lois Ruth (Gilbert) Lamb of Union, Ark., was born Aug. 29, 1911, on a farm near Guion, Ark., to the late Joseph Ransom and Allie Maude (Smith) Gilbert. She departed this life Sept. 24, 2004, at Union at the age of 93 years.
Lamb was united in marriage to Medford C. Lamb on May 29, 1932, on a farm near Guion and to this union two daughters were born.
She was a homemaker. She was a former resident of Guion, an active club member and a committed Christian of the Baptist faith, being a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Union.
Her life was characterized by her love of music and appreciation of nature and its beauty.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law -- Claudine and Dow Thompson of Carrolton, Texas and Norene and Dr. Carl Arnold of Salem, Ark.; two sisters -- Cleta Fluke of Gaston, Oregon and Robbie Chain of Terrebonne, Oregon; four grandchildren -- Thorpe Thompson, Dr. Griffin Arnold and Renee's Arnold, Cynthia and Bob Southard and Medford Carl Arnold; three great-grandsons -- Lance Corporal Robert Arnold USMC, Fallujah, Iraq; Matthew Arnold and Brent Southard; many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; four brothers -- Densil, Eldon, Ello and Mavis Gilbert, and a sister, Nola Blankenship.
The funeral service was Sept. 26 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Union with Bro. Cliff Hutchins and Bro. Gary Wallace officiating. Interment was in the Oxford Cemetery with arrangements by Barker Funeral Home of Salem.
Pallbearers were Dr. Griffin Arnold, Matthew Arnold, Bob Southard, Dean Gilbert, Richard Payne and Wayne Gilbert.
Honorary pallbearers were Charles Taylor, Alfred Grice, Gerald Bryant, Duane Bryant, Dahl Lawyer, Woodrow Hodges, Dr. Carl B. Arnold and Dow Thompson.
Memorials may be made to the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Building Fund.
