Yard sale boxes and signs must be removed in Thayer city limits

Thursday, April 15, 2004

THAYER -- Thayer Mayor Allen Deckard and the board of aldermen for the city remind Thayer residents that yard sale boxes and signs need to be picked up and taken off the streets after any yard sale has taken place.

"Our town is beginning to look a little cluttered from all the boxes that are left by stop signs and streets. It only takes a little time to go back and pick them up after a sale," Deckard said. The mayor added that those who fail to comply can be fined for littering.

Officials at Thayer City Hall said Thayer residents are permitted to have two yard sales a year. Those planning to have a yard sale need to fill out a form at the Thayer Police Station. The form includes the person's name having the sale, address, and date.

The mayor urges Thayer residents to be responsible citizens and to pickup their boxes and signs.

He said this will help keep the city neat.
