Eugene Emil Andres, 79, of Antigo, Wis., was born Feb. 18, 1925, in Antigo the son of Emil Andres and Clara Kloida. He died Oct. 17, 2004, at the Langlade Memorial Hospital in Antigo in LeRoyer Hospice Care.

He was married to Geraldine Knolinski May 21, 1947 at St. Hyacinth Catholic Church in Antigo. She died July 24, 1980.

He served in the miliary in the United States Navy on the USS LST 547 in the Pacific in World War II. He was a gunners mate, third class. He then was employed for 43 years at Antigo Milk Products.

He was a life member and Quartermaster for 24 years of the Leland Tollefson Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2653, member of Sparks-Doernenberger American Legion Post #3, and was a member of the Natimaz and Wisconsin LST Association. He enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and was a member of SS Mary and Hyacinth Catholic Congregation.

Survivors include his children -- Kathy (Larry) Boksa of Cherokee Village, Patricia (James) Gnacinski of Antigo, Wis., Mary Jo Andres of Antigo, Joni (Andy) Sensenbrenner of Deerbrook, Wis., and Thomas (Peg) Andres of Antigo; six grandchildren -- Jim Boksa, Jason (Stephanie) Andres, Tammy (Dan) Hintz, Liz (Jon) Mosher, Jeri (fiance Jeffrey) Gnacinski and Stephen Sensenbrenner; four great-grandchildren -- Shawza and Devan Kaczmarek, Victoria Andres and Annabeth Mosher; his mother-in-law, Helen Knolinski, of Antigo; three brothers -- Edward Andres of Antigo, David (Shirley) Andres of Little Chute, Wis., and Richard (Theda) Andres of Appleton. and his brother-in-law, Bob Knolinski of Kokomo, Ind.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a grandson, Brian Andres, a brother, Arthur, and two sisters-in-law -- Virginia Andres and Joan Knolinski.

The funeral was Oct. 19 at St. Hyacinth Catholic Church in Antigo with the Rev. Omer Kelley officiating. Burial was in Queen of Peace Cemetery in Antigo with arrangements by Bradley Funeral Home of Antigo, Wis.
