Verba Lee Johnson, 81, of Cave City, Ark., died April 19, 2007, at Cave City. She was born Sept. 22, 1925, at Cave City, Ark., the daughter of Nelson and Elizabeth (Stewart) Laman. She was a homemaker, a farmer, having raised watermelons and cattle for many years, a Foster Grandparent at Cave City School for over 20 years and a member of Maxville Missionary Baptist Church in Cave City.

Survivors include: two sons, and daughters-in-law, Gary and Becky Johnson of Cave City, and Phillip and Julie Johnson of Sidney; two daughters and son-in-law, Arlinda and Mitchell Gardner of Sulphur Rock and Kaye Martin of Cave City; one sister, Etta Mae Chaudoin of Cave City; seven grandchildren and spouses, Terry and Gwen Womack of Pleasasnt Plains, Vickie and Michael Haas of Melbourne, Wendy and Michael Ferguson of Springfield, Mo., Cheryl and Perry Bell of Cave City, Jeremy and Kristie Johnson of Waco, Texas, Michael and Amy Gardner of Charlotte and Kimberly and Brian Carter of Cave City; 18 great-grandchildren, Tori Taylor, Brice Taylor, Kilee Taylor, Landon Haas, Kaitlen Haas, Cassie Womack, Clay Womack, Grace Fergu-son, Karis Ferguson, Brooklyn Brinkley, Trenton Bell, Garrett Johnson, Savannah Johnson, Matthew Johnson, Derek Bell, Dalton Bell, Reese Gardner and Brett Gardner; several neices; and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lester Johnson; a brother, Carlos Laman; and sisters, Maxine Johnson and Carol Wanda Parsley.

Funeral services were held April 22 at the Maxville Missonary Baptist Church located north of Cave City with Bro. Grayden Milligan, Bro. L.J. Gay and Bro. Boyce Johnson officiating. Burial followed in the ?Maxville Cemetery located north of Cave City with arrangements under the direction of Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.

Pallearers were her nephews:?Larry Johnson, Dwain Johnson, Travis Parsley, Raymond Staggs, James Mack Street and George Kennedy.

Honorary pallbearers were her grandchildren.
