Janis Wilkes Heath

Janis Wilkes Heath, 67, of Poughkeepsie died April 21, 2007, at the White River Medical Center in Batesville. She was born April 17, 1940, at Evening Shade, Ark., the daughter of Kennard and Madge Lee (Thompson) Wilkes.
She was a homemaker, worked at the Poughkeepsie Post Office for several years and worked for General Tire and Rubber in Batesville. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, crocheting and loved cats. She was a member of the Poughkeepsie Church of Christ.
Survivors include: her husband of 48 years, Charles Eugene Heath of the home; one son, Terry Heath of Poughkeepsie; one daughter Melanie Ann?Heath of Batesville; one grandson, Justin Heath of Poughkeepsie; one brother, A.C. "Sonny"?Wilkes of Cave City; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; two brothers, Pete Wilkes and Paul Wilkes; four sisters, Margie Wilkes, Elma Wilkes, Nadine Goff and Alma Lee; and one great-nephew.
Funeral services were held April 24 at the Poughkeepsie Church of Christ at Pough-keepsie with Troy ?Henley and Bob McCartney officiating. Burial followed in the Spotts Cemetery at Poughkeepsie with arrangements under the direction of Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
Pallbearers were Jim Baxter, Jim Hetrick, Billy Kohn Brown, Kenneth Seat, John Wilkes, Gary Wilkes, Joe Young and Chris Wilkes.
Honorary pallbearers were Bobby Vanwinkle Barry Wilkes and Brandt Wilkes.
Memorials may be made to Poughkeepsie Church of Christ or the Independence County Humane Society.
