Amy Maude Wheeler, 90, daughter of the late John Roy and Rosetta Thatcher Roy was born April 2, 1911 in Couch, Mo., and died Friday, Nov. 9, 2001 in West Plains, Mo. She was married June 27, 1943 in Lula Mo. to Ernest Wheeler who preceded her in death.She was a wonderful mother and grandmother; was of the Pentecostal faith; and loved to design and make quilts and give them to family and friends. She was a member of the Eastern Star Alton Chapter 209.Survivors include one son, Roy Wheeler and wife, Bonnie of Columbia, Mo.; one brother, Vena Roy of Medford, Oregon; four grandchildren, Camilla Wheeler, Erin Wheeler, Scott Wheeler and wife, Amanda and Elizabeth Wheeler.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; five sisters, Lottie Norman, Viola Harris, Lucy Gaulding, Zella Hackworth, and Waltie Euna Riley; and three brothers, Lee Roy, Joe Roy, and Albert Roy.Services were Monday, November 12, 2001 at 10 a.m. at the Carter Funeral Home Chapter with Rev. Ronnie Blanks officiating. Burial was in the New Salem Cemetery in Couch, Mo., with arrangements under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. of Thayer, Mo.Pallbearers were David Bennett, Lester Riley, Kent Metcalf, Gene Barton, Aaron Satterfield, and Harold Crase.
