Craig Taylor, 76, died Friday, Oct. 26, 2001 in Slidell, La. He was born January 25, 1925, in Many Islands, Ark. the son of the late Enos Frank Taylor and Nora Kissee Taylor. He was united in marriage April 19, 1946, in Mammoth Spring, Ark. to Martha Louise Bennett, who preceded him in death Sept. 14, 1980. He was united in marriage June 3, 1996, in Hancock County, Miss. to Ruth Ann Ruiz Hernandez.He was a decorated veteran, serving during World War II in the Marine Corps in the Pacific campaign. He was a career employee of the St. Louis San Francisco Railroad, where he started as a telegraph operator and train stationmaster in Mammoth Spring. He finished his railroad career in New Orleans as district sales manager. He was a life-long Mason and was of the Methodist faith.Survivors include: his wife, Ruth, of the home in Slidell; five children, Craig Allen Taylor and his wife, Bonita, of Cat Spring, Texas, Michael David Taylor and his wife, Diane, of Slidell, Judith Elaine Turkelson and her husband, Dr. Charles Turkelson, of Chalfont, Penn., Susan Ann O'Rourke and her husband, William, of Slidell, and William Edward Taylor and his wife,, Laura, of Yardley, Penn.; 11 grandchildren, Robert Taylor, Sarinah Taylor, Kristen Jared, Austin Callaway, Katie Callaway, Emily Taylor, Christina Turkelson, Adam Turkelson, Katherine O'Rourke, William O'Rourke and Jessica Taylor; three great-grandchildren, Joshua Taylor, Brittany Jared and Cory Jared; two step-children, Alcide Hernandez, Jr. and Deborah Hernandez, both of St. Bernard, La.; seven step-grandchildren, A.J. Hernandez, III, Karen Billiott, Melissa Ruiz, Shelly Alfonso, Wendy Alfonso, Steve Alfonso and Brandy Lafrance; and 11 stepgreat-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; one brother, Neil Taylor; and one sister, Ione Murray.Services were held Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2001, at 10 a.m., at Carter Funeral Home Chapel, Thayer, Mo., with Rev. Jack Martin officiating. Burial was in Hurst Cemetery, Mammoth Spring, with arrangements under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. of Thayer.
