Carrie Emeline Whitten Barnett, 95, of Evening Shade, Ark., died Friday, Nov. 16, 2001 at a Cherokee Village hospital. She was born Sept. 10, 1906 at Cushman, Ark., daughter of Jasper and Manerva Whitten. She married Adie M. Barnett Oct. 5, 1924 near Sidney. She was a housewife, a school lunch supervisor at Evening Shade School and a librarian at Evening Shade. She was a member of the Evening Shade United Methodist Church.Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Thelma and Ross Jackson of Lubbock, Texas, and Cora Lou and Paul Davis of Evening Shade; 11 grandchildren, George Moss of Liberty, Texas, Gail Vickery of Bay-town, Texas, Brenda Arnold of Wichita, Kan., Carolyn Benson and Susan McAlexander both of Lubbock, Texas, Sherron Johnson of Levelland, Texas, Perry Jackson of Houston, Texas, Ricky Davis of Heber Springs, Pam Buie of Bates-ville, Harlan Davis of High-land, and Laurie Weaver of Evening Shade; 27 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Eva Lee Paysinger of Batesville; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Roxie Moss; two brothers, Bill Whitten and John Henry Whitten; three sisters, Artie Thomas Pilant, Trixie Qualls Hoaney, and Jewell Whitten; and three infant great-grandchildren.Services were Sunday, Nov. 18, 2001 at 2 p.m. at the Evening Shade United Methodist Church with Rev. Loye Vern Mason officiating. Burial was in the Evening Shade Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City, Ark.
