Born 1-23-1959 -- Died 3-8-2004
Kenneth Marshall West, son of Marshall and Gayle Varner West, was born Jan. 23, 1959, at Glendale, Calif. He died March 8, 2004, at the age of 45 years.
He was a veteran, having served with the U.S. Navy. He attended the Spartan School of Aeronautics. On July 26, 1996 he was married at Eureka Springs, Ark. to Carolyn Strauser.
He was a member of the Ridgerunner staff, was a member of the ATV Club and had been a member of the Homebuilder's Association.
He was a member of the First Baptist Chuch of West Plains.
He is survived by one child, Tyler Glen West and his mother, Carolyn West of West Plains, Mo.; his parents -- Marshall and Gayle West of West Plains; a sister, Kathy Clark and husband, Robert, of Puyallup, Wash.; four nephews, Bryce, Marshall, Troy and Daniel Clark all of Puyallup; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents -- Otto and Mildred Varner, and Denver and Lorene West; an aunt, and three uncles, including his favorite uncle, Glen Varner.
A memorial service was held March 12 at the First Baptist Church in West Plains with The Rev. Gary Ray Varner and Richard Wright officiating.
Burial was in the Oak Lawn Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home of West Plains.
Military honors were presented by the Missouri Military Funeral Honors Program and Veterans Honor Guard of West Plains.
Pallbearers were Danny Brown, Robert Clark, Mike Morris, Rusty Pilgrim, Mike Roberts, Michael Strauser, Jim Thompson, Clayton Varner and Phil Varner.
