Charles Glenwood McClain Jr., 61, of Ash Flat, died June 8, 2004, at his residence.
Born on July 18, 1942, in Long Beach, Calif., he was the son of Charles Glenwood McClain Sr. and Helen Parker McClain. He married Alice Hopper April 21, 1962, in Las Vegas, Nev.
He was a veteran of the US. Navy. He worked many years in California as a self-employed drywall contractor. From 1968 until 1972, he lived in Arkansas and attended Williams Baptist College and Lyon College in pursuit of a degree in the ministry, which he obtained and then returned to California.
He had moved with his family to Arkansas again in October of 2003, after retirement from Miraloma, Calif.
He was a Christian and attended the Abundant Life Church in Highland, Ark.
He was a member of the board of the Inland Empire Foster Parent Association in charge of food Ministry. He loved children and was a baseball coach for Little League and served as an umpire.
Survivors include his wife, Alice McClain of the home; eight sons -- Charles McClain III of Hesperia, Calif., Nathan and Adam McClain, both of Riverside, Calif., Jeff Chapman of Ash Flat, Jeremy and Jonathan Rodola, both of Ash Flat, Dean Frey of Miraloma, Calif, and Robert Rodola of Arizona; three daughters -- Dawn Clowdus of Riverside, Calif., Trina Gorell of Miraloma, Calif., and Christina Moreno of Hemet, Calif.; three sisters -- Jessica Crain of Peris, Calif., Nadine Miller of Palm Springs, Calif., and Susie Chapman of Colorado; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Danny McClain and a sister, Sharie Hart.
A memorial service was June 12 at Abundant Life Church in Highland with Joey Barnes officiating. Arrange-ments were under the direction of the Tri-County's Cherokee Chapel of Highland.
