The Environmental Protec-tion Agency was called Nov. 20 to the scene of an accident involving a diesel spill near Mammoth Spring. A 1998 International tractor trailer driven by Joseph R. Watson, 28, of Little Rock hit a bridge in the Big Creek area on Highway 63 just south of Mammoth Spring.Watson was traveling in a narrow construction zone hauling soap when his trailer duals struck the bridge.Both tanks were knocked from the trailer, resulting in the diesel leak, according to Trooper Jim Brown from the Arkansas State Police. Brown said there was approximately $15,000 in damages to the tractor trailer.Watson had no apparent injuries, according to Brown. He received a citation for careless driving and prohibited driving. A Salem man was injured in a one-vehicle accident Nov. 20. Lester W. Lovegrove, 65, was traveling east on Highway 62 just east of Viola when he lost control of his vehicle and ran off the road.The 1992 Ford Ranger Lovegrove was driving collided with a tree, crossed over a driveway and landed in a nearby yard.According to Cpl. Dale Moad of the Arkansas State Police, Lovegrove is being charged with careless driving and prohibited driving.Lovegrove was admitted to the Fulton County Hospital where he was later released.
