MAMMOTH SPRING -- The Mammoth Spring City Council met in regular session Oct. 1 at city hall with Mayor Jean Pace and all council members present.
The city council discussed a request from local resident Bill Pace to close an alley located between the school and Pace's property.
Pace said an ad will be run in the South Missourian News concerning the request and give city residents the opportunity to oppose the closing of the alley. She said if no opposition is voiced an ordinance will be prepared and voted on at next months council meeting.
Pace told the council the city has received a grant for $13,129 to build a field house at the Mammoth Spring Little League ball park. Pace wrote the grant and submitted it to Arkansas Rural Development.
"The new facility will include men and women's rest rooms, a concession stand, a storage area and an open pavilion," she said.
The mayor said the work at the park is an on-going project with the school, city and Little League.
She said the grant money will have to be matched with money, in-kind labor or manpower.
Mammoth Spring Little League board members from the city are Jim Mills, Danny Busch, Peggy Smith and Pace. Board members from the school are Brian Davis and Denny Young who serves as chairman of the board. Board members from the Little League Association are Corey Johnson, Danny White, Jimmy Marler and Steve Russell.
Pace said anyone interested in becoming involved with the project at the ball field can call her at city hall at 625-3518 during normal business hours.
