An attempted arson and burglary at the Carriage Trade Realty on Highway 289 just south of Glencoe occurred probably in the early morning hours on Jan. 28.
The Fulton County Sheriff's deputies were met at the scene by Ruth Parks who told officers she arrived at the Realty company around 12:30 p.m., noticed a strong smell of what she believed to be gasoline and discovered the office had been broken into.
According to a report by the sheriff's office, different types of computer items were taken and a fire was set in a storage closet with some type of accelerant.
Entry had been gained through the back door where it had been pried open, according to Deputy James Humphrey, who investigated the incident. Humphrey reported that an electric meter had been pulled out and phone lines had been cut at the back of the business.
Sheriff Lloyd Martz said no arrests have been made. The case is under investigation.
