Plans have been announced by officials at West Plains Motor Speedway for a pyrotechnic work of art titled "The American Story," as a fireworks display to be presented July 6.
Area residents are invited to come to the racing facility located on US Highway 63 south of West Plains and celebrate their American pride as they experience the largest choreographed fireworks display ever seen in the Heart of the Ozarks.
This program will be produced by AirMagic, Inc., a professional pyrotechnic group that specializes in stunning explosions of color and sound, choreographed to music, that will rekindle the patriotic spirit for all.
This promises to be the largest fireworks display ever presented in this area and is sponsored by Sunoco Racing Fuel and Simon's Petroleum Company of Oklahoma City. Those attending can enjoy the thunder of a $30,000 racing event along with the fury of a $15,000 fireworks display.
This will be the final night of the 3-night Third Annual Sunoco and Simon's Petroleum Firecracker Weekend event and July 6 will highlight the concluding feature races for this mega event for super stock, hobby cars and trucks and the cruiser class, drawing drivers from all over the area and several surrounding states.
Gates will open at 6 p.m., with hotlaps at 7:30, and racing will get under way at 8. The fireworks extravaganza will take place before the racing event finale at mid-evening.
Admission for adults for the entire program will be $10, children ages 7 to 11 $3, and those 6 and under are free at West Plains Motor Speedway.
