THAYER -- Donations are now being accepted at Hirsch Feed and Martin Salvage Grocery in Thayer for a Mammoth Spring woman who was seriously injured in an automobile accident May 29 on Highway 9 south of Mammoth Spring.
According to a report from Cpl. Kenneth W. Foley of the Arkansas State Police, Susan K. Manes, 46, and Lacey Manes Lingenfelter, 19, were both injured when the 1991 Dodge truck Katie was driving was hit head on. Lingenfelter was six months pregnant and lost her baby girl in the accident. Katie Manes died May 30 at a Springfield hospital from injuries sustained in the accident.
The report stated that James M. Cox, 22, pulled into the southbound lane while he was negotiating a curve and hit the Manes truck. Cox and a passenger in his truck, his wife, 20-year old Angela Mack-Cox, also received moderate to serious injuries in the accident.
The three remain in a Springfield hospital with various injuries.
