Vada M. Hobbs, 89, was born July 27, 1912, to David Madison Crews and Easter Ann Blankenship Crews, in Oregon County. She died May 31, 2002, in Thayer.She was united in marraige on May 29, 1929, in Alton, Mo., to George L. Hobbs. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and enjoyed gardening, fishing, quilting and spending time with her family. She obeyed the Gospel and was baptized at an early age.Survivors include one son, Dean Hobbs and wife Hasseltine of Horseshoe Bend, Ark.; three grandchildren, Jerry Hobbs and wife Sharon of Puxico, Mo., Larry Hobbs and wife Amber of Rolla, Mo., and Linda Crase and husband Robert of Thayer; seven great-grandchildren, James, Jarrod, Joe, Kimberly, Amanda, Allen and Angela; and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Leonard and Manuel Crews; five sisters, Elza Crews, Essie Grooms, Bernice Janes, Mildred Pope and Lois Parrott; and one infant sister.Services were June 2, 2002 at Norman Cemetery with Mike Stone officiating.Pallbearers were Jerry Hobbs, James Hobbs, Eugene Crews, Larry Hobbs, Jarrod Hobbs, Kenneth Crews and Robert Crase.
