Iona Estele Neal Byram, 85, was born on April 23, 1917 to Robert and Ivie Walker Neal in Newburg, Ark. She died on May 23, 2002 in Batesville, Ark.Iona was united in marriage to Cleo Byram on May 10, 1942 in Izard County, Ark. She spent most of her life as a wife, mother, and homemaker. She was a member of the Belview Baptist Church.Survivors include one daughter Carolyn Paulette and husband Roy Bookout of Newburg, Ark.; two grandchildren, Connie Sisk of Abilene, Texas and James Bookout of Irving, Texas; two great-grandchildren, Savahanna and Jacqueline Sisk; and a host of other relatives and friends.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters, Lottie Neal and an infant; and three brothers, Earskle, Ausba, and Arlis Neal.Services were May 26, 2002 at the Belview Baptist Church with Tony Colburn and Doyne Robertson officiating. Pallbearers were Tim Smith, Charles Cheatham, Gale Cooper, Leon Cooper, L.D. Ball and Jerry Blankenship.Honorary Pallbearers were Jim Phipps, Jim Cooper, Jess Smith, and Ron Wiseman.
