OREGON COUNTY -- In a special called meeting of the Oregon County Economic Development Board of Directors Sept. 11, board members voted unanimously to relieve Oregon County Economic Developer Will Ingram of his duties with the county. Chairman of that board, Oregon County Presiding Commissioner Leo Warren, said in an interview Sept. 20 the board felt like Ingram was not working out in his position and they are currently in the market for someone to fill the job.
The city of Thayer was the first in the county to have an economic developer after it applied for and received an economic development grant three years ago. Heather Wakefield Fisher was hired at that time. The following year the city of Alton and Oregon County joined Thayer in supplying funds for the position and her job became a countywide position which continued until she resigned to work on her own January 2002. Ingram began his duties as Oregon County Economic Developer in April 2002.
The Oregon County Economic Development Board of Directors is comprised of Warren and Commissioners Buddy Wright, John Wrenfrow, Thayer Mayor Allen Deckard, Alton Mayor Brad Vest, Thayer City Alderman Steve Hall and Alton City Alderman Bill Young.
